Kemp Productions won First, Second and Third Prize in the Shaderlight 2014 Render Contest. Our 6 entries have the 6 top positions.
We acknowledge, that by support of friends, fans and followers sharing in groups, pages and posts, this was made possible. However, for the same reasons we won the contest, we announce the following.

Shaderlight 2014 Render Contest

This Contest Launched October 01. Our contest submissions (through a family fb account) were deleted by Shaderlight from their "Posts to page” and ArtVPS was questioned as to where our entries were. These inquiries were by SketchUp Texture, who had shared the links (that disappeared) on their page and MasterSketchUp, who is intimately familiar with The Mason Farm Renders project for his book “SketchUp to LayOut". Due to that interest, ArtVPS finally accepted submissions only by email. Finally on Oct 24, the company accepted six of our renders. Thinking that it would be difficult to catch up in voting that started at the beginning of the month, we immediately posted on our business page, private wall and groups announcing that our renders were accepted.

Overnight, those posts were shared. And in only a day and half, KP's renders had surpassed the leading “like” leader. We looked closely at the competitors and found incredible details and work. Leading the competition since entering, we decided on the third day, to use our FB page and groups to promote the work of other artists to no avail. Too many opened the album and clicked like, not knowing they were mine or the others I was promoting. Popularity over quality?! Incredible discipline was overlooked, under appreciated and Shaderlight plugin achievements by these artists, ignored.

We received a letter from Shaderlihgt:

"As you can see from the Shaderlight Facebook page your 6 entries are currently the top 6 entries in the competition – so unless there is a major turn round in the today you have clearly won – everything!", "... your entries do take Shaderlight rendering to a new level and we will be happy to award you all 3 prizes...” - Graham Wylie CEO ArtVPS Shaderlight

He gave the option to share. We decided to share these awards in a special way.  A   T O T A L   G I V E A W A Y !

In recognition of the talent behind the renders of this year’s contest, we will be awarding our 3 Amazon vouchers, the 3 full licenses of Shaderlight included in these winnings as well as our highest compliments and congratulations to the following artist’s for the achievements accomplished in these renders judged by this panel.

KP "WINNER'S CHOICE AWARDS”

The breakdown of prizes are as fallows.

1st prize: $150 Amazon vouchers
2nd prize: $100 Amazon vouchers
3rd prize: $50 Amazon vouchers

Each winner also receives a $300.- full license of Shaderlight.
As ArtVPS advertises, this value is $900.-.
Total winnings: $1'200.-.
Since "likes" should not win a contest as judge for quality, Kemp Productions will award artists who have great images but not the merited recognition. Since before receiving the letter from ArtVPS, we have had time to contemplate this scenario.

Therefore, a panel of three recognised individuals in the field of 3d visualisation has judged the renders in the competition album (KP renders excluded).

The four judges are:

Scott Para
Diversion Studio: Metro Detroit's premiere design studio specializing in ultra-high resolution automotive and product renderings.

To those who voted for us in the Shaderlight 2014 Render Contest, we communicate our appreciation now. Without your support, we would not have been able to recognise these other artists in the competition who deserved it so much.

Note: Since contestants already use full versions of Shaderlight, the advertised prizes of the $300.- value full license, is only a $100.- upgrade charge. As ArtVPS advertises, this $900.- value in full version software represents only $300.- upgrade fees. With this $600.- difference, we have asked ArtVPS, a generosity on their part, if they agree for Kemp Productions' upgrades for SU 2015, 2016 and 2017. But, if they choose not to, it is ok. As only ArtVPS can decide to agree, this request is supplementary to and outside of the original won prizes as gifts given in this giveaway.

Again, congratulations to all who participated and for revealing some of the best renders Shaderlight users have created.

Our 6 entries on the 6 top positions

“Duane Kemp has been using Shaderlight to render his SketchUp models since we launched the software back in 2010 and his talents for both SketchUp modelling and Shaderlight rendering are clear. The support for Duane’s work was clear from the start and deservedly so, his technical ability and attention to detail really do take Shaderlight rendering to another level.” - Kate Marshall, Marketing Director ArtVPS Shaderlight
